Elgin Open Gardens 2017
Over two weekends in November every year,  homes along selected routes in Elgin and Bot River allow the public to see their beautiful gardens, ranging from large established country gardens to young, recently planted gardens. Here are a selection of photos from the places I visited this year. Cape Town Zombie Walk 2017
If you want to really get into the spirit of Halloween, the Cape Town Zombie Walk is a good way to start. It's free and people go to a lot of effort with their makeup and costumes which is worth seeing alone.  Expect zombie nuns, Day of the Dead brides, zombie frauleins and even zombie dogs! Here are some images from this year's walk. I was recently invited by Cameraland in Cape Town to spend the morning with them and Canon South Africa on the City Sightseeing Bus. I took my trusty Canon 650D along for the ride and here are some images that I took on the day.  May they inspire you to be a tourist in your own town and plan a day out on the red bus! 2017 ATKV Oesfees at Solms Delta, Franschhoek
I am lucky enough to attend many wine festivals, but none are as down to earth as the Solms Delta ATKV Oesfees. Bands play all day while everyone enjoys platefuls of good old-fashioned Kaapse kos, many glasses of Solms Delta wine and the chance to just relax and have fun. Read more

Open Streets Mitchells Plain
The latest Open Streets was held in Mitchells Plain where Merrydale Avenue was closed to traffic and taken over by people on foot, skateboard and bike. For an area of Cape Town that I have always perceived as being a bit dangerous, that day all I saw was a lot of love with residents,  non-residents, friends and families walking together, cycling together, laughing together and playing together. There were even a few dogs in the mix. What a great experience! Now let us Capetonians resolve to do that every day... Read more

Woodstock Graffiti Tour with Juma Art Tours
To think that someone can create something so beautiful (and so HUGE) on a wall using cans of spray paint just boggles my mind. I was recently taken around Woodstock by Juma Mkwela (who also grew up in Zimbabwe) to see various murals by local and international artists. It was an incredible hour filled with approximately 40 works of art. Read more

I was recently invited by Cape Town Tourism on their very first InstaMeet of 2015, where I was one of the lucky three that went to Kalk Bay on the train. It's one of my favourite spots and I have always loved that train ride. Here are the Instagram images from that day. If you've never been to Kalk Bay (gasp!) then hopefully this will inspire you to do so! Read more
