Places to stay - Western Cape

Being a bit of a bohemian, I love roadtripping and spending time in new places and towns. Itís all part of the adventure! In the Western Cape we are spoilt for choice, with many of them suitable for the tightest of budgets. Here are some of my favourite discoveries.

DK Villas at Skilliepark in Dwarskersbos
A plush, upmarket spot by the sea that makes for a stylish, yet cosy getaway, while being a lock-up-and-go base from which to explore all that the neighbouring West Coast towns have to offer. Read more

This white-washed, thatched cottage is typical McGregor-endearing and is set in a lovingly cared-for garden. It boasts magnificent views and being within walking distance of all McGregor has to offer, is the perfect place from which to explore the village and surrounding area. Read more

Elalini Backpackers, Garden Route
A tranquil and scenic spot en-route to Buffelsbaai where chickens scratch on the old railway line and dogs snooze on the stoep while legendary pancakes are served to guests and visitors who return time and again. Read more

African Array Lodge, Plettenberg Bay
A home away from home where you can take your time and take in the view while having loads of fun in a relaxed environment.  Read more

Old MacDaddy, Elgin

Numbi Valley Farm, De Rust
Relax in a lovingly restored labourerís cottage with incredible views over the valley and Swartberg mountain range on this off-the-grid farm in the Klein Karoo. Take a dip in the plunge pool, make pizza in the outdoor pizza oven and enjoy fresh vegetables from the garden. Read more
