About Othmane Zolate
Othmane Zolati is a 24 year-old African adventurer, filmmaker, photographer and blogger. He recently completed an adventurous journey through 24 African countries by traversing the four corners of the continent on foot, bicycle and skateboard.
He wants to share the experiences of how he achieved his dream of exploring these countries by making a documentary film. Through this, he hopes to inspire and encourage others to also chase their dreams, and to change their perception of Africa by showing what few people ever see or fully experience – the exotic beauty, thrilling diversity, incredible hospitality and ultimate humanity of this continent.
He has been recognised and awarded as one of the world’s best travellers at the Dubai Travellers Festival in 2017 where he shared his stories and experiences by giving an inspirational talk accompanied by his incredible photos and videos in Dubai. He has also been awarded as the Adventurer Of The Year in 2018 at the Morocco Adventure Film Festival. He also presented a photo exhibition in Cape Town in 2018, along with a solo photo exhibition in his home town, El Jadida in Morocco.
About the exhibition
The African Dream is an invitation to join the spirit of Africa, to take a deep breath and accept our differences, and enjoy the ride. This is an opportunity to both understand and respect each other’s cultures while watching the story.
These images showcase a wide cast of characters through the eyes of this young Moroccan photographer and the lens of his camera and tell the story of one adventurer’s searching for the oft neglected meaning of that other Africa. These gallery is a means to view other’s traditions, to transcend physical boundaries and to understand and accept these differences while realising similarities. It’s a reminder to appreciate and respect our differences while enjoying our uniqueness.
